Wycliffe’s mission is to assist the church in making disciples of all nations through Bible translation. Often they create new written languages for indigenous peoples that have no written language and translate the Bible into these “mother tongues.”
David and Kimberly Beine have spent several years working to facilitate Bible translation throughout the South Asia region. Dave is also currently the director of the Oregon Summer Institute of Linguistics (ORSIL), one of over 20 training programs around the world sponsored by SIL International (a sister organization of Wycliffe) that Wycliffe uses to train their future Bible translators, literacy specialists and Scripture-use workers. About 70 students attend the summer school each year in preparation for service with Wycliffe or other Bible translation organizations in various countries around the world.
