The Deacons’ primary duty is to care for
the people of the congregation. We work alongside the Elders and
Pastors. The following ministries are our primary and continuing
concerns:

ANGEL TREE: An outreach
program to prisoners’ families during the Christmas season.

COMMUNION: Setting the
table, preparation of the elements and clean-up.

FLOWERS: Maintaining the
altar flower calendar and weekly delivery of flowers to the ill or
homebound. Decorating the Sanctuary at Palm Sunday, Easter and
Christmas.

FUNDRAISING: Preparing
and serving the Pancake Breakfasts and special All Church lunches.
All proceeds assist the Deacons fund.

HOSPITALITY: Greeting and
serving coffee to the congregation each Sunday.

GREETING TEAM: This Team
led by a Deacon welcomes members and visitors and offers directions
and information each Sunday.

MENTORING MINISTRY: A
special program to welcome New Members and assist them in becoming a
part of the St. Andrews family.

PEW RESTOCKING: Cleaning
and organizing pew items (Bibles, Hymnals, envelopes).

PROJECT JOY: Collecting
and organizing food and clothing that is distributed to the homeless
and needy.

RECEPTIONS: Providing
light refreshments or lunch for memorial services.

SACK LUNCH: Preparing and
serving lunches to the homeless and needy on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

SHEPHERDS: Calling,
visiting, sending cards to the elderly, sick and homebound on a
regular basis.

TRANSPORTATION: Providing
rides to church, doctor’s appointments, etc.

USHERING: Handing out
bulletins, name tags, seating, collecting the offering and cleaning
up after the service.

WORK PROJECTS: Assisting
church members, who have no other source of help, with minor home
repairs or with local moves.
