Prayer Shawl Ministry

Make Prayer Shawls for those in need.
When: 5:30-6:30pm the  2nd & 4th Wednesday of each month through June, 2011
Where: St. Andrew’s, Room 321

Do you love creating things of beauty? Do you know how to knit, crochet, quilt or would like to learn? If you do, we have an opportunity to reach out to those in our congregation and community through a tangible, comforting and caring ministry. Contact Carrie Bach if you are interested or just have questions.

The shawl maker begins with prayers and blessings for the recipient and the prayers are continued throughout the creation of the shawl. Upon completion, a final blessing is offered before the shawl is sent on its way. Some recipients have continued the kindness by making a shawl and passing it onto someone in need. Thus, the blessing ripples from person-to-person, with both the giver and receiver feeling the embrace of a sheltering God! Shawls can be used for: undergoing medical procedures; during an illness and recovery; as a comfort after a loss or in times of stress; during bereavement; prayer or meditation; commitment or marriage ceremonies; birthing, nursing a baby; bridal shower or wedding gift; ministering to others; graduation, birthday, anniversary, ordination, holiday gifts; or just socializing…there are endless possibilities!
