Wholeness Service

24 06 2010
On Sunday, September 19th from 5 to 6pm

The Lord has nurtured many through the prayer ministry here at St. Andrew’s. We have felt the leading of the Lord to offer a service built around interactive prayer for those suffering with spiritual, relational, physical, or emotional issues. Our Wholeness service will be held on the third Wednesday of each month from 5-6pm in the Sanctuary Narthex with the first service to be held on September 19th. The first half of the service will include a time of worship, scriptural guidance, and the Lord’s Supper followed by an opportunity for interactive prayer for the second half of the service time. All are invited to share prayer needs with a prayer servant who will then lift these concerns on their behalf. Please let others that would benefit know about this service.

Ambassadors for Christ Through Song

Let’s sing praises to Christ

Do you like to sing?  Come and sing praises to our Lord.  For 8th grade, high school and college students, we practice each Sunday at 8:30am in the Youth Center at St. Andrew’s usually starting in January.  We have a few performances in Church on Sunday mornings and complete our experience as we go on a road show.

Please contact Jenny Nazarian at jnazarian@sntandrews.org if you are interested in being part of ACTS next year.

AMOR Ministries

A great opportunity to serve
High school, college students and other adults have the opportunity to travel south to Mexico to partner with AMOR Ministries in helping to construct a home for needy families.  Each year we hear of some amazing stories where hearts are changed while the love of God through serving others is seen in action.

This ministry is a great way to get involved in helping families in need, taking the focus off our wants and really helping those in need of basic shelter.  During the week, the crew will lay a foundation, construct the walls, plaster and roof the family’s new home.  Each day, you’ll get great meals and have wonderful fellowship as you share in this labor and spread God’s love through your service.

Check out the AMOR Ministries website – 30 years building homes for the needy in Mexico: http://www.amor.org

 AMOR Dates:  July 18-23, 2010
 Where:  Mexico

The AMOR trip to build houses in Mexico is open to adults and students 8th grade and up.

Missionary Prayer

11 06 2010

Brenna Ghent asks for the following prayers for the students at Penn State University.  Brenna is with DiscipleMakers Christian Fellowship and one of the missionaries St. Andrew’s supports.

Dear Friends,
Thank you for praying! In my last newsletter, I asked you to pray for our week-long summer conference called Focus. The Lord was certainly at work in the lives of many students during Focus! Not only did over 90 students give up a week of their summer (when they could have been working or vacationing) to spend time studying the Bible, but some of them heard the gospel for the first time!
Would you praise the Lord and pray with me for how God is at work in these two students in particular:
1) “Andrea” – Andrea attended our annual Women’s Conference and was a part of a small group discussion group that I led. Andrea came from a difficult background and has been  in challenging relationships with people who claim to be Christians but who have treated her in ways contrary to the Scriptures. As you might imagine, this has made her very wary of Christians and of Jesus. Andrea attended our Women’s Conference because of the genuine care and friendship of the other women in the DiscipleMakers fellowship at her school, yet she didn’t seem to understand the Gospel yet. Praise the Lord that Andrea came to Focus, where she could hear about Jesus again! It was evident to the staff that interacted with her that Andrea’s heart is softening to the Lord and she might even be a Christian now! Would you continue to pray for Andrea? Praise the Lord that He is at work in her heart, and pray that she will continue to seek a personal relationship with Jesus, even while she is at home for the summer. Pray for the Christian women who have been reaching out to Andrea, that they will continue to be faithful in showing her the love of Jesus.
2) “Max” – Max, an international exchange student, has had some contact with the Christians on his campus, but he was not very involved in the DiscipleMakers fellowship. At the last minute, Max decided to attend Focus. Halfway through the week he asked one of our staff if he could have a Bible because he wanted to continue to read about Jesus on his own this summer! Would you praise the Lord for Max’s excitement to read the Bible, and pray that he would know Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior? Please also pray that as Max returns to his home country, he would share Jesus with his family, friends, classmates, etc.
It’s so exciting to see these examples of how the Lord is at work changing students’ hearts and building his Kingdom. It’s really true that as college students in Pennsylvania are changed by the Gospel, the whole world can be reached for Christ. Thanks again for your prayers and support in this ministry!
Love in Christ, Brenna
