On Saturday, May 1, 2010 St. Andrew’s plans to join numerous churches and other organizations around the South Bay in serving our community with a project oriented workday. This year we are planning to join forces with the parents and supporters of the Carden Dominion School in Redondo Beach. The school is located at the corner of Knob Hill and Pacific Coast Hwy. in Redondo Beach. We will plan to do some general maintenance and clean up including trimming bushes and trees, sanding and painting. We hope this will help beautify the school and give it some much needed care as well as allow those attending to fellowship and meet new friends. Please plan to join us …

Thanks for supporting the youth of St. Andrew’s again this year!
On Monday, May 24, 2010 St. Andrew’s held it’s 15th Annual Youth Fundraiser Dinner Auction and Golf Tournament at the Los Verdes Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes. Thank you to everyone who supported our youth this year. We had many local vendors generously donate numerous gifts and prizes and the gift baskets were spectacular this year! Thank you to our fundraising committee and all their work and effort to make the day and night a huge success. The proceeds help get our jr. high and high school kids to winter and summer camps as well as help support other youth activities throughout the year as we teach them the Good News of Christ.
Please join us next year for golf, dinner or both. It’s always an exciting day with golf during the day, a raffle, silent auction and fellowship, hors d’oeuvres, dinner and a live auction.

Christian Core Beliefs — A study of the Apostle’s Creed — By Floyd Heideman
Many Christians today see a divided Christianity for reasons not understood. As a gifted teacher, Floyd Heideman helps us see the greater reasons for deeper unity. Throughout the growth of Christ’s Church over the millennia there is found one constant: they all confess their faith in God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit along with the rest of the core beliefs found in the Apostle’s Creed. Floyd takes us back to that common statement of faith held by the Early Church.
This 11-part study leans toward points of agreement within Christianity, rather than the arguments over doctrinal differences. In it one senses God at work in the many branches of Christianity while maintaining a unity in the one Body of Christ. It is clear that Floyd’s goal has been to teach what the Bible teaches, rather than denominational interpretations or tradition beyond the Scriptures.
May the Lord bless you through this study as many others have already been blessed.
Martin Smith, Associate Pastor St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church
Floyd’s Book is available in its entirety without charge in either a one or two column .pdf format. I have noticed that the attendance at worship has become increasingly less frequent. There are many reasons why people stop attending the church to which they belong, but when that happens, both the church and the individual lose. God has so made us that we need mutual support and fellowship. And the nature of the Christian faith is that it thrives best with in a community of believers.
Perhaps, something has happened to cause a change? If the infrequent attendance is a result of some disappointment with the church or its people, I’d like an opportunity to discuss it with you, and if possible to help bring about a positive resolution of the matter. I’m finding that many “other” commitments are taking priority over Sunday worship and I would be failing you as your pastor if I did not acknowledge the evident change of point of view towards making worship a priority.
Every single one of you are a valuable part of our congregation. This is my personal invitation to you to join with the rest of us for worship this Sunday. You are important to our fellowship. I hope to see you there!
Keeping the faith,
Pastor Mark
