Dear Ones in Christ,
Two days after Monday’s earthquake in Haiti, the magnitude of damage and suffering has become clear. When we understand the suffering of Haiti’s people, a country already beset by poverty, our own hearts grieve on their behalf. The Holy Spirit moves us in compassion to care and we dare not quench that leading. When we act in faith to the Holy Spirit’s leading, and move to help those suffering through prayer and aid, everyone is blessed. Our own souls are comforted as we act as Jesus himself would act in the face of suffering.
Please be in prayer for Haiti and the rescue and relief operation under way. If you are able, please also consider supporting the following ministries serving in Christ’s name:
May the Lord’s love and care and call be heard in the midst of this disaster,
Pastor Mark, Pastor Bill and Pastor Martin
Gal. 6:2 Bear one another’s burdens, and thereby fulfill the law of Christ.

Brenna Ghent asks for the following prayers for the students at Penn State University. Brenna is with DiscipleMakers Christian Fellowship and one of the missionaries St. Andrew’s supports.
Dear Friends,
I wanted to send out this short update about ministry here at Penn State and invite you to pray. This week (1/11-1/15) is the first week of the Spring semester at Penn State main campus. DiscipleMakers Christian Fellowship has a lot planned as part of our Outreach Blitz! The beginning of the new semester is a very strategic time to meet new students and reconnect with students from last semester. While I won’t be taking part directly, my work in the HQ is critical to free up the campus staff to reach these students for Christ. I will also be helping “Diana” follow up with students from her Bible study last semester, as well as helping her start up another Bible study this semester.
Please pray:
-
Pray that God would go before us and prepare students’ hearts to be interested in Bible study so that they may learn about Christ.
-
Pray that God would give boldness, wisdom, and faith to the staff and student leaders as they reach out to students.
-
Pray that God would bring many to a saving knowledge of Christ and His sacrifice. Pray that we all would gain new brothers and sisters in the Lord – the angels rejoice over one sinner who repents! (Luke 15:10)
In Christ,
Brenna

It’s been a tradition at St. Andrew’s to provide a way for our kids to get some great instruction and have some fun with their church friends each summer at one of the various summer camps in California. The younger kids start at Indian Village and Creekside at Forest Home at the base of the Big Bear Mountain. Forest Home is a fabulous Christian camp for kids, young adults and even adults and puts on a great summer program each year.
For the last few years, our high school kids have been able to spend a week of instruction, worship and fun on houseboats on the Sacramento Delta. For 2010, we are planning a backpacking trip so stayed tuned for details.
