MOPS (Mother Of Pre-Schoolers) starts on Wednesday, September 23, 2009

Attention Mothers of PreSchoolers (MOPS) … St. Andrew’s will again help sponsor the popular MOPS program this fall.  This program is a time for Mothers of pre-schoolers to get a short break from their mothering routine by having the kids watched by care givers at the church while spending some time with other Mothers in conversation and instruction.  The program runs from 9am to 12 noon two Wednesdays each month and begins on Wednesday, September 23, 2009.  Your children are watched by our loving caregivers throughout the morning in our children’s wing here at the church while all the Mothers meet just down a flight of stairs in our Family Life center for food, fellowship and instruction.

Prime Time announces a Comedy Night in October –

Calling all middle aged couples & singles to join us for Comedy Night on Sunday, October 4, 2009 from 5:00pm to 7:30pm in “The Cellar” (also known as Fellowship Hall). 

Bistro-Style Dinner, Fellowship and a Show by Christian Comedian Robert G. Lee.  Dress is casual and cost is $45.00 per person.  Tickets will be available on the patio after worship service.

Respond to God’s Call -

Please join us on Sunday, September 20, 2009 after each worship service to RESPOND to God’s Call in your life.  Details will follow in the coming weeks, but for now make sure to put it on your calendar and plan to join us on September 20th.

40+ Families spend a week in Christian community

There were 165 people from 40 or more families who traveled to Pine Valley, California last week for the St. Andrew’s Family Camp held at the Pine Valley Bible Campgrounds east of San Diego.  There were approximately 25 high school kids who helped run activities for the younger kids and enjoyed challenging programs and fellowship of their own … there were also about 25 junior high school kids.  The adults were treated with a dynamic program;  Todd Grant,  from the Watts Power House Church, blessed us with challenging talks each day as we helped each other grow in our understanding of our amazing God.

Many were able to challenge themselves with the ropes course, paint ball, climbing the rock wall, volleyball, lunch trivia and more.  We had crafts in the afternoon and some fun activites in the evening including game night, movie night, a campfire with smores and a variety show. 

The St. Andrew’s families were blessed by God in so many ways with this unique opportunity to join in Christian community for these 5 days.  Please join us next year for another great week!

Our 12-member Team came home last Sunday

On Sunday, August 2nd we welcomed home our 12-member mission team back from their trip in South Africa.  With some very tired looking faces from a long trip home family and friends greeted the team at LAX at about 3pm on Sunday.  We’re looking forward to hearing some of their stories at the worship service on Sunday, August 16th.  In the mean time please continue your prayers for their transition back into the comforts of their homes here in the South Bay.  You’ll want to come on Sunday, August 16th as well to see how we can continue to pray for the Out of Africa Missions group as they continue to minister to those needy families in South Africa.

The team arrived safely

The St. Andrew’s South Africa Mission Team arrived safely to their destination in South Africa yesterday.  Way to go team!  You can watch the Out of Africa blog over the next few weeks to see some of their activities at http://oamblog.clockworkrhino.net/.  Keep praying that God will direct their efforts and guide their hearts.
